Al Qaeda actually got access to a nuclear device after the Soviet Union collapsed according to the CIA. They were too incapable to know how to set it off and the half-life caused it to expire and become useless after a couple of years.Same thing happened with the nuclear program of Saddam Hussein. When the US found his secret nuclear program facility the Yellow Cake was actually 'expired' and wasn't ready for use in nuclear warheads.They were shipped out of Iraq and given to Canada for use in their nuclear power plant.
