Written on, 13:45 o’clockHiThe GOP 10.8v is quite a demanding tool. ( All Multitools are hard on batteries infact) If the cells are exhausted then the only thing you can do is replace them. As the cost of the battery pack is nearly entirely the cells it is probably not cost effective. (Unless you manually replace with cheap cells but I believe that to be a false economy. )How old are these batteries?We now have a 2 year Premium service on all Li-ion batteries and chargers. I am not a heavy user of battery kit as all my previous Bosch battery tools will testify as they are 7 years old and still work fine (Ni cd and Ni mh batteries I might add!). I have made sure I haven't drained the batteries completely flat as I was warned when I bought them that this would kill them i also havent used the kit daily so it is no where near its life expectancy. To say I am unhappy is a understatement I bought this kit thinking I was buying a superior product from Ni cd and Ni mh turns out I was wrong. What is going on Bosch I was a fan but find myself going towards other manufacturers! I think you should be replacing this obviously flawed product! Written on, 11:23 o’clockNeil. The batteries are electronically protected by ECP that prevents deep discharge and overloading so you cannot damage them through use and cannot fully drain them.Li-Ion is superior to Ni-Cad and NiMH regardless of supplier.
There is no flaw with our Li-Ion batteries. (More than I can say for some of our competitors ) I think the most likely reason in the difference in your experience is the addition of the GOP. There was no multitool availaible when you used Ni-Cad etc. The GOP is a very demanding tool. If you use it a lot you will use the batteries cycles quicker.
( I think you can drain an fully charged battery in less than 6 mins?) If you find your self reaching for your GOP more than any other tool consider going corded.If you haven't used your batteries much and they still ALL failed then that is very, very unusual. Written on, 09:07 o’clockHiWell I have been told by the registered Bosch supplier where I bought them from that bosch lithium batteries can become faulty if they are ran until flat as they have had quite a number back for exactly that reason. Also they mentioned the are very temperature sensitive. My GOP was used sparingly as it is a light duty tool in my eyes and besides which the blades are expensive so I use it only when my jigsaw or circular saw wont do the job.
Also when I purchased the GOP the mains version wasn't available. I would never buy fakes or from a none registered dealer as it is false economy so the question still remains why have all four batteries failed and what are Bosch going to do about it?This post was edited byNeil Clarkeon, 09:10 o’clockReason: Spelling correction. Written on, 21:35 o’clockI am new here, stubbled accross while looking for solution to the 3 out of 4 faulty 10.8V batteries I have.Own the multi-cutter, Drill and Impact Driver.Had 2 batteries and the drill replaced under warranty over a year ago and had faulty batteries from 8 to about 4 months ago. Also the drill freezes up sometimes (electronics).Just about to go to dewalt 10.8V (I know a few people with them) and ebay all my bosch stuff.
I already have the old 18V dewalt stuff. Shame really, could be good. Written on, 00:39 o’clockI too have had real problems with the 10.8v batteries being destroyed by the GOP. I have gone through at least a dozen batteries(all replaced under warranty). All undoubtedly damaged by the GOP.
It has caused so many damaged batteries that the GOP sits in my workshop never used now.Frankly I dont care what is said about damage not being possible and very rare problems, its not a problem, heavy use, incorrect charging et etc etc but every single person I speak to who owns a GOP has had battery problems and that is a lot of trades.If Bosch wish to stick their head in the sand and ignore it that is their prerogative, but the damage being done to reputation is pretty severe if you ask me. I shelled out £200 odd on a cordless GOP when it first came out that is absolutely useless as it just knackers the batteries, that makes me angry. Look on the internet there are thousands of posts about 10.8v batteries being destroyed by the GOP.I feel Bosch should hold its hands up and admit that something went a bit wrong and that the GOP does damage batteries as it does without question and swap out the 10.8v GOP models without batteries for a corded version free of charge. I have no doubt that the answer will be no and that end users will be blamed but I like countless others have used it normally in a pro enviroment and found it substandard in terms of destroying batteries. I'm quite frank and hope you guys trust I won't BS any of you if I know better. I am ok to admit if we are having a problem with one of our products. But currently there is not issue with the GOP 10.8v or the batteries. As Golden boy points out it maintaining our reputation is important.

But the GOP 10.8VLI as far as I am aware is not problem machine.Our UK tool testers have not found any design fault with the GOP 10.8VLI that will lead to the destruction of battery packs. My initial thought would be the use of (heavier) 3rd party blades & accessories draining batteries faster and damaging motors would be the main complaint. Not deep discharge and cell damage. That is what ECP (Electronic cell protection) is there to actively protect against.In regards to killing batteries prematurely I haven't been made aware of anything like that. True some cases it will be down to a dud battery and should resolved via warranty ( We have a 2 year premium service, so better than warranty for all batteries and chargers now ) But I would have thought the main complaint would have been down to a lower than expected performance.
That is down to user expectation rather than the machine. This in turn leads to each battery being charged more often and therefore exhausted ‘quicker’ but after what I would prosume, the same number of cycles.I understand there are probably quite a number of complaints floating around the internet and I do not doubt that these people may indeed be having issues.
